Physical and Chemical Properties

White powder. Melting point 851 ℃. Sodium carbonate in the air is very easy to absorb water deliquescence. Decomposition of carbon dioxide begins at 400°C. At room temperature can be dissolved in 3.5 parts of water, 2.2 parts of 35 ℃ water, soluble in glycerin, insoluble in ethanol. Its aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, pH 11.6
